Why are web awards an important part of promotion and what are they? Website awards have been around nearly as long as the web itself. These were
typically created for the reasons any award is; to reward the webmasters for building and designing a great quality website. Granted there are still many
award programs out there that cater to this ideal, however, web awards have now taken on a whole new meaning in the world of website promotion. Why are
these important for promotion you ask? Links, links, and more links! Web awards are also great to show how popular and beautiful your website is, however,
the greatest amount you have to gain from a web award is that recipricol link from the award program. This has become especially important in recent years
when the use of meta tags has dwindled. Your website is now indexed based on keywords throughout the site and those links you have coming in and out.
So how do you find web awards? Web awards are everywhere! There are currently 10,000+ programs out there and more crop up every month. Having been a member
of this community in the past, I can tell you that some definitely rank much higher than others. You will find some basic programs out there that will give you
an added link, but there are many out there that will also give you a high quality review of your website. How are you able to tell which is which? I would
recommend starting at the websites below. You'll find many award programs out there cattering to every topic imaginable. My one word of advice is to make sure
you read the criteria of the award you are applying for. Some are very strict and there is nothing worse than having someone apply for an award they aren't
