There isn't one set way to build a great web site. The great thing about web site design is that you can let your
creativity flow in every direction. That being said, there some very good and important points to follow when
designing a good web site. The links at the top of this page will help you find many tools and tutorials on web site
design, as well as help you find graphics and goodies to get you going.
How do you get started? You first have to decide why you feel you need a web site. What do you hope to achieve and
gain by having a presence on the web? Who are you looking to target with your web site and is it the best way?
Now you've probably decided that a web site is really what you want, but what are some important things to consider
with the actual design and content of the web site? The biggest thing I tell people is that you do not need to "wow"
all of your visitors with every site. What that means is that you do not need all of the latest technology and bells-an-whistles on your web site.
The most important aspect to your visitors is the ease of use and finding the information or products they want. Your
site can be the "coolest" around but if your visitors can't find anything, then you've spent a lot of money on nothing.
What you should be interested in, is a well thought out web site that presents you and your company in a positive and
attractive way, while still giving your visitors great navigation and layout. It is important that you don't use
techology and graphics because they are cool and cute. Don't add extra pages just because you feel that you need
to have more to make your web site better.
When designing your web site always keep your target audience in mind and think to yourself whether this would be a web site
you would visit and shop at. Most importantly, is this a web site that you would return to and recommend to others.
